Debby Boland Watt brought Circle Singing to Seattle over 10 years ago. These growing Circles are attended by dozens of remarkable people interested in facilitated, yet spontaneous, music. Each has found that sounding together with compassionate purpose increases their joy. Debby studied choral conducting at Western Washington University and Cornish College of the Arts, toured across the lower 48 and Alaska, Canada and Western Europe, worked as a vocal performer, choral director, studio musician and teacher. She's prepared!
Liz Kohlenberg has been practicing group vocal improvisation for sixteen years, with friends, and at workshops with Bobby McFerrin, Rhiannon, David Hatfield, Christian Swenson, Joey Blake, David Worm and Debby Boland Watt. "This is why I love improvisation and why I think it's important to teach [people] all ages to improvise...it's simply motion. It proceeds musical knowledge or understanding of anything. It's simply the courageous act of opening your mouth and singing something, and following it. " Bobby McFerrin Join us as we create beautiful melodies and harmonies that let you connect with your voice and with others. Rhythmic and tonal play-filled exercises are wonderful ways for singers of every level to create together. Each session will include improvisational Circle Singing and will promote a sense of community, joy and satisfaction. |
